WFUWO backs diaspora-wide campaign
To secure a MAP to NATO for Ukraine
The World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations is lending its full support to a campaign initiated by the Ukrainian World Congress to speed the process of Ukraine’s receiving a Membership Action Plan (MAP) towards accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
WFUWO unreservedly agrees with the UWC appeal addressed to Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in advance of the NATO summit to be held on 14 June 2021 in Brussels (Belgium) urging action on Ukraine’s readiness to move towards membership.
WFUWO deeply appreciates NATO’s position on the inviolability of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its stance on Russian aggression as a direct threat not only to Ukraine but to global peace and security.
WFUWO endorses Ukraine’s aspirations, convinced that arming Ukraine with a MAP will help deter further aggression from the Russian Federation by signaling NATO’s commitment to Ukraine’s independence and the Euro-Atlantic choice made by the Ukrainian people.
WFUWO calls on its member organizations working in NATO countries to write to their government officials in advance of the NATO Summit in Brussels and request their unequivocal support for Ukraine’s candidacy for a MAP to NATO membership.
